Kazakhstan reports banana harvest of 70 tons

Banana gross yield in Kazakhstan’s greenhouses from April to June amounted to 70 tons on 52,500 square meters, the Bureau of National Statistics reported. The entire harvest came from the Turkestan region.

The country also reported harvesting 208 tons of strawberries on 87,000 square meters: 158 tons in the Almaty region and 50 tons in the Turkestan region.

From April to June 2025, the gross yield of tomatoes grown under cover in Kazakhstan totaled 50,400 tons. Most of the tomatoes were harvested in greenhouses of the Turkestan region — 36,800 tons. Over the three-month period, 5,700 tons were harvested in the Aktobe region, 1,900 tons in the Pavlodar region, 1,800 tons in the Almaty region, 1,400 tons in the city of Almaty and 1,050 tons in Shymkent. The total area of greenhouses used for growing tomatoes across the country amounted to 4.5 million square meters.

Furthermore, from April to June, Kazakhstan harvested 33,100 tons of cucumbers. The leading region was Turkestan, with 20,900 tons harvested. It was followed by the West Kazakhstan region (2,630 tons), the Almaty region (2,620 tons), the Pavlodar region (2,200 tons) and the city of Shymkent (1,800 tons). The total area of greenhouses in Kazakhstan used for cucumbers amounted to 3.6 million square meters.

Moreover, 368 tons of chili and pepper were harvested on 72,300 square meters, including 224 tons in the Turkestan region and 118 tons in the Almaty region. The entire national yield of mushrooms — 114 tons grown on 4,100 square meters — also came from greenhouses in the Almaty region.

In December 2024, Kursiv.media reported that a five-hectare greenhouse in the village of Kasymbek Datka in the Turkestan region was projected to yield between 400 and 450 tons of bananas by the end of 2024.
