
In July 2025, air carriers in Kazakhstan served 1.7 million people, marking a record for at least the past 18 years, according to data from Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics.
Air travel
In July, airlines operating flights within and outside Kazakhstan served 1.7 million people, the highest figure since at least 2007.
The number of passengers transported increased by 13% year-on-year (YoY). Passenger turnover also reached a record high, totaling more than 3.4 billion passenger-kilometers, up 7% YoY.
Taxi
This means of transport also saw a rise in usage, with the number of passengers transported by taxis increasing 3.7-fold year-on-year (YoY) to 15.4 million.
Rail travel
Meanwhile, rail transport lagged behind its previous results. In July, 1.9 million people traveled by train, down 69,000 from last year.
For reference, the record was set in January 2014, when 3.3 million passengers traveled by rail.
Maritime transport
This mode of transport remains a minor option for travel in Kazakhstan. Only 5,600 people used it over the month, down threefold YoY.
The record set in July 2019, when 28,200 passengers were carried, still remains out of reach.
