The Oi Qaragai resort near Almaty has launched two new entertainment facilities for adrenaline seekers: a sky swing and Kazakhstan’s first alpine slingshot ride. Kursiv.media shares prices and directions.
Both adrenaline rides are located at a new Aktas site at the Oi Qaragai resort, at an altitude of 2,140 meters.
The slingshot, which the resort calls the «catapult,» propels riders up to 15 meters. The total duration from launch to landing is around three minutes.
The sky swing lets you experience the feeling of flying over a steep drop. It is designed for three people, but two can ride as well. Riders are lifted on a cable and then rapidly released. The ride lasts around three to five minutes.
Before the ride, all adrenaline seekers are instructed and assisted with putting on a body harness and helmet. Visitors shorter than 120 centimeters are not allowed, nor are pregnant women or anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Tickets for the slingshot start at 3,500 tenge (approximately $6.50) for children aged 12 to 16 and 5,500 tenge ($10) for adults. For the sky swing, prices start at 5,500 tenge ($10) for children and 8,500 tenge ($16) for adults.
To reach the new alpine rides, visitors must first get to the Oi Qaragai resort and then take the gondola lift up to the Aktas Plateau. The lift is paid separately — tickets for the Aqtaş Express start at 6,000 tenge ($11) for adults.
