Organizers of Jennifer Lopez’s concert at Almaty’s Central Stadium have released the event’s figures. The show was attended by 27,000 visitors, about 7,000 of whom came from 35 countries around the world.

According to the Almaty city administration, the concert generated approximately $18.5 million in revenue, with $1.1 million expected to go into the state budget as taxes.

«The expenses of foreign guests in Almaty during the concert period alone are estimated to have added more than 5 billion tenge ($9.2 million) to the city. Taking into account the spending of all spectators and indirect income, the total financial turnover from the concert is estimated at more than 10 billion tenge ($18.5 million), according to preliminary calculations by the Department of Tourism,» the administration stated.

Restaurants, coffee shops, hotels and transport companies also reported significant profits. For instance, the food court at the Central Stadium made around $27,730 on the day of the concert.

According to the city administration, the tour’s principal director Christian Lamb and technical director Grigory Antropov called the venue preparation in Almaty «the best among all cities on the tour.»

«We are proud that we were able to host Jennifer Lopez’s concert at such a high level. At the same time, we also recognize areas that we can and should improve, and we are already planning specific steps to make future events even better,» said Alfiya Nurgumarova, managing director of First Media Group.

Previously, Kursiv.media published a brief review of the concert’s highlights that audiences are likely to remember.

The next major concerts planned in Almaty and Astana are the Backstreet Boys shows this fall. Previously, Kursiv.media revealed the locations, ticket prices and where to buy them. Notably, several tour companies have launched package tours to Astana that include concert tickets.

Next year is also expected to be busy, as legendary Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann is set to bring two concerts to Almaty next winter.
