In July 2025, Kazakhstan produced 11,800 vehicles worth about $306.3 million, up 50.1% from a year earlier. Passenger cars drove the main growth, while truck production declined.

According to Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics, the country’s automotive industry continues to show steady growth: in July last year, output stood at 7,839 units worth about $187.4 million.

From January to July 2025, Kazakhstan produced 83,300 vehicles worth a total of $2.15 billion, a 16.7% increase year-on-year. Car production accounted for 40.7% of the total output in the country’s machine-building industry.

Production profile

Passenger cars traditionally make up the largest share, with 75,400 units produced (up 19%). Truck production, however, fell by 10.5% to 4,091 units, while bus output rose 5.5% to 1,361 units.

«Kazakhstan’s automotive industry is progressing thanks to the dedication of thousands of specialists. Today, the sector employs over 8,000 people… Looking ahead, the launch of two new plants will generate more than 5,000 jobs and provide an additional impetus to related industries,» commented on the situation Anar Makasheva, president of the Kazakhstan Automobile Union.

Output volumes broken down by region and production facilities

In the first seven months, the Kostanay-based Allur plant led with 45,800 vehicles produced (up 6.9%). Almaty ranked second, where Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan and Hyundai Trans Almaty assembled 31,200 vehicles (up 41.8%). In Semey, SemAZ and Daewoo Bus Kazakhstan produced 2,400 units (down 17.5%). QazTehna in the Karaganda region manufactured 976 vehicles (up 28.1%), while KAMAZ-Engineering in Kokshetau increased output by 34.6% to 739 units. Other manufacturers combined produced 2,100 vehicles.

Leading automotive brands and models

The top five brands by production in January–July were Hyundai (30,800 vehicles), Chevrolet (16,600), Kia (14,800), Jetour (7,100) and Jac (5,600).

The most produced models were the Chevrolet Cobalt (13,600 cars), Hyundai Tucson (11,800), Kia Sportage (7,000), Hyundai Elantra (4,900) and Hyundai Mufasa (4,600).

The enterprises are focusing on increasing local content and modernizing production. In the long term, this should reduce dependence on imports and boost exports.

Kursiv.media previously reported that a production facility for Chinese Sinotruk HOWO trucks is set to be established in the Karaganda region.
