The ongoing feud between Donald Trump and Chris Christie hit new levels of intensity after Christie took shots at the former president during a Sunday appearance on ABC’s This Week. He blasted his former ally’s approach to mixing politics with criminal investigations, CNN reported.

The timing was particularly charged, coming right as FBI agents were searching the home of John Bolton, Trump’s ex-national security adviser.

Trump wasted no time firing back on social media, reviving his “Sloppy” nickname for Christie and dredging up the 2013 Bridgegate scandal. It’s quite the turnaround from when Trump previously congratulated Christie after the Supreme Court tossed out convictions in that case. Trump now suggests the case should be reopened, declaring “NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW!”

When reporters pressed Trump about whether Christie should face an investigation, he played it coy, saying that the call belonged to AG Pam Bondi but couldn’t resist adding that Christie had “gotten away with murder.”

The bad blood between these two runs deep. Christie backed Trump in 2016 and worked closely with him, but their relationship soured after Trump’s 2020 loss. Christie has since become one of Trump’s loudest Republican critics and is now challenging him for the 2024 nomination.

Trump then turned his anger toward the media, threatening ABC and NBC’s broadcast licenses and claiming they’re just Democratic Party mouthpieces threatening democracy. He demanded they pay up for using public airwaves. Both networks kept quiet, with ABC declining to comment and NBC staying silent.
