Jackie Chan has been appointed ambassador for Expo 2027 in Belgrade. He will promote the internationally recognized event, which is endorsed by the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), according to Euronews.
The Belgrade Expo will showcase sport, music and culture, with an emphasis on Serbia’s achievements in technology and science. It also highlights the country’s position as a bridge between Eastern and Western societies.
For Chan, who’s no stranger to goodwill missions through his work with UNICEF and various humanitarian causes, this role feels like a natural fit.
«These themes – sport, music, culture – they’ve been the story of my life,» Chan shared, referencing his journey from martial arts master to movie star and even recording artist.
Drawing on his experience as ambassador for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, Chan spoke warmly about how these events bring people together.
«I saw firsthand how an Expo can transform a city into a melting pot of ideas and cultures. Belgrade has that same magic – this amazing mix of old-world charm and modern spirit,» Chan said, highlighting Expo 2027 as an opportunity to showcase Serbia’s role as a meeting point between Europe and Asia.
