SpaceX’s plan to expand Starship launches from Kennedy Space Center has sparked an unusual protest — from nudists. The American Association for Nude Recreation (AANR) claims that Playalinda Beach, one of Florida’s few legal nude beaches, could be closed up to 60 times a year for rocket operations, as reported by Futurism.
Leaders of the group say the closures threaten a destination that draws thousands of naturists nationwide. They warn that nudists may flood nearby Apollo Beach, raising tensions with non-nude visitors.
Opponents of the project also cite noise, safety and environmental concerns. But with construction already underway at the launch site, many fear approval is inevitable — leaving nudists, beachgoers and turtles alike displaced in the name of space exploration.
