The Weeknd will not hold a concert in Almaty, organizers announced, relocating the event to another country due to frequent cancellations of artists in Kazakhstan.
Alexey Puchkov, producer and head of the ticket operator Topbilet.kz, confirmed that the performer will not be coming.
«Kazakhstan, I have not very good news for you. Not long ago, with much ado, we reached an agreement with The Weeknd about holding a concert in Almaty,» Puchkov wrote on Threads.
According to him, the artist had allegedly confirmed a concert in Kazakhstan for 2026.
«We have been actively working on this project as we understand that world-class concerts bring significant economic and image benefits to the country. However, against the backdrop of recent events and discussions on social media, we decided to explore another country to host the concert,» Puchkov emphasized.
Earlier, news of The Weeknd allegedly performing in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan went viral on social media, while the artist’s official website did not list any concerts in Kazakhstan. The announced tour only covers Europe and Latin America in 2026.
