The Backstreet Boys’ official Instagram account uploaded a photo of Kevin Richardson wearing a shapan (a traditional Kazakh coat) with a golden eagle perched on his hand, set against the backdrop of the Almaty mountains.
The photo appeared as a kind of answer to the ultimate question: «Where was Kevin while the other band members walked around Astana?» The caption to the photo read:
«You were asking where Kevin was…»
Four group members visited Baiterek, planted trees and relaxed in a local steam bathhouse. However, Richardson was not present at these events.
The Backstreet Boys’ concert producer in Kazakhstan, Malik Khassenov, jokingly explained in the comments section the singer’s absence, saying that Richardson was at his home, preferring manti (a popular Central Asian dumpling dish) cooked by the producer’s mother over steam bathing.
The comments under Richardson’s photo with the golden eagle were filled with jokes, with users saying the artist had «chosen the path of a true batyr warrior,» while others remarked that he would «fit into a Kazakh epic» with such an image.
