Gennadiy “GGG” Golovkin, acclaimed former middleweight champion and current president of Kazakhstan’s National Olympic Committee, has landed on the ballot for the 2026 International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Other candidates on the IBHOF ballot include Vernon Forrest and Steve Collins, according to IBHOF Executive Director Edward Brophy via BoxingScene.

Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) dominated the middleweight division for nearly a decade, holding multiple major titles and setting a division record with 22 title defenses. His trilogy with Saul «Canelo» Alvarez produced memorable recent moments in the sport.

Voting will be handled by members of the Boxing Writers Association of America and international boxing historians, who review the candidates and cast ballots to determine the inductees. The 2026 class will be announced in December 2025, with the induction ceremony scheduled for June 2026 in Canastota, New York, home of the IBHOF.

Founded in 1989, the International Boxing Hall of Fame’s annual induction ceremony is considered one of the sport’s most prestigious traditions.
