Inktober 2025: The world’s biggest drawing challenge is on!

As October gets underway, artists around the globe are once again diving into Inktober, a month-long celebration of ink-based art. The annual challenge, which began on Oct. 1 and runs through Oct. 31, invites creators of all levels to produce and share one ink drawing each day, emphasizing practice, imagination and a sense of community.

Started in 2009 by illustrator Jake Parker, the idea follows a simple format: each day brings a single-word prompt from Inktober organizers. Participants interpret the word as they wish, sketch in ink, and post their work online with hashtags like #Inktober and #Inktober2025. The event is not a competition, but a personal challenge to build discipline and connect artists worldwide.

Over the years, Inktober has gained traction on social media, producing viral work, helping artists build their careers, and showcasing the diverse range of styles in the medium. Interpretations range from detailed landscapes and portraits to whimsical, minimalist doodles — all sparked by the same one-word cue.

This year’s official list has no theme, but the first prompts were «Mustache» on Oct. 1, «Weave» on Oct. 2, and «Crown» on Oct. 3. Thousands of entries are already online, turning social platforms into creative digital galleries.
For art enthusiasts, the Inktober feed provides daily inspiration by showcasing how a simple pen can produce innovative artwork and spark creativity.
