The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou Province, China, is the world’s highest bridge with its deck rising 625 meters. In addition to its impressive height, the bridge spans nearly 3 kilometers, with a main span of 1,420 meters, according to the Guardian.

\The bridge links the Liuzhi Special District and Anlong County via the Guizhou S57 highway, shortening the travel time across the canyon from two hours to just two minutes. Since its public opening on Sept. 28, it has quickly become an engineering marvel and a popular tourist spot.

«The view is breathtaking. Standing there feels thrilling — like being among the clouds,» said Mr. Fu, who ensures safety for bungee jumps and rope swings on the site.

As the height of the bridge feels surreal to many, local authorities hope the bridge will boost tourism. To achieve this goal, they plan to construct viewing platforms, a glass elevator that leads to a café atop one of the arches, and a glass walkway extending nearly 600 meters above the ground. Meanwhile, activities such as bungee jumping and slack-lining are already drawing crowds, with daily visitor numbers capped at 5,000.

Local businesses are seeing an immediate impact. Guesthouse owner Lin Guoquan said his property is fully booked.

«I used to drive guests to a viewing spot, but now hundreds come every day. I can see the bridge right from my courtyard,» he said.

However, many other small businesses in the area have been forced to adjust to increased competition and higher operational demands.

Meanwhile, thousands of social media users share their experiences with others, posting drone footage and travelers’ reactions. Some even describe their feeling as «touching the clouds.»
