Erlan Kozhasbay, owner of the Gorelnik Visit Center, announced on Threads the completion of a new pedestrian suspension bridge, Arman-Köpir, in the Gorelnik Gorge in Almaty, noting that he had «dreamed of building a bridge — and has done it.»
Arman-Köpir is a modern 77-meter suspension bridge connecting the slopes of the picturesque Gorelnik Gorge. It was built as part of a program to develop Almaty’s eco-tourism and to ease congestion on the popular routes to Medeu and Shymbulak. The design takes into account the challenging terrain and adheres to international safety standards. A Swiss company, renowned for its bridges across Europe, was involved in the project.

The area around the visitor center is also seeing the construction of a children’s sports and educational club, designed to provide a year-round space where leisure, sports and environmental education can be combined.

Notably, under the initial plan, the bridge was supposed to open in September. However, the Almaty City Administration told Kursiv LifeStyle that the opening ceremony had been slightly postponed to allow time to complete all the tests and trials.

«The official opening of the Arman-Köpir pedestrian bridge was postponed to Oct. 15 to allow for the completion of all technical tests and safety checks. Construction and installation work was completed in September. As of today, the bridge is ready for use and open to visitors,» the administration said.
Earlier this October, China opened a new attraction — a 625-meter bungee jump in Guizhou province, labeled on social media as «the most extreme, adrenaline-fueled therapy in the world.»
