A unique escalator taking passengers up to the summit of scenic Lingshan Mountain in Jiangxi province, eastern China, was launched. According to MetroTV, its length spans an impressive 1,236 meters. Its construction consists of 10 sections, each 50 meters long.
The new facility is part of an ambitious domestic tourism development initiative, which has made the route to the summit much easier. Travelers now need just 10 minutes to reach the peak, instead of the two-hour walk it used to take.
Lingshan is famous for its natural beauty, with 72 peaks and 108 rock formations, and the height of the main peak reaches 1,496 meters.
This is not China’s first project of this kind. Hubei province has a 688-meter observation escalator. The new project in Jiangxi, however, has become the longest in the world.
Users on social media have already discussed the new attraction. Commentators on Instagram joked that finally somebody came up with the idea of building an escalator in the mountains. The facility has been dubbed the «Ladder to the Sky» and called a symbol of technology making the hardest-to-reach places more accessible.
Previously, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that bungee jumping from 625 meters officially started on the Huajiang Canyon Bridge, which crosses the Huajiang Canyon, making the attraction one of the most extreme in the world.
