On Oct. 28, 2025, Amazon announced in a message to employees and on its website that it will reduce its corporate workforce by approximately 14,000 positions amid increased investment in generative AI, CNBC reported.
According to the company’s post, it aims to become less bureaucratic and streamline operations while investing in its «biggest bets,» which include generative AI.
Notably, in June, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy stated that the company «will need fewer people doing some of the jobs that are being done today, and more people doing other types of jobs.»
Earlier media reports had suggested that the number of corporate job cuts could reach up to 30,000.
