Inter Milan reserve goalkeeper becomes involved in fatal car accident

Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martínez hit an 81-year-old man in an electric wheelchair while driving his car. The incident occurred on Oct. 28, 2025, at around 9:40 a.m. in the municipality of Fenegro near Milan, QuiComo reported.
The impact was severe, and the man died at the scene. The 27-year-old footballer was not injured but was reportedly in deep shock. An investigation is underway.
As a sign of mourning, Inter canceled the press conference with head coach Cristian Chivu that was scheduled for today.
Spanish footballer Martínez is Inter’s second-choice goalkeeper, serving as backup to Swiss player Yann Sommer. He previously played for Las Palmas, RB Leipzig, and Genoa. The goalkeeper joined Inter in the summer of 2024 for €14 million. Martínez appears on the pitch occasionally — he has played 12 matches for Inter across all competitions, conceding eight goals and keeping seven clean sheets.
