A pedestrian suspension bridge has opened near the Aktas Plateau near Almaty. The new landmark has already attracted outdoor enthusiasts and thrill-seekers. The attraction spans 50 meters from pylon to pylon, with the gorge beneath is estimated to be 35 meters deep.
The Aktas Plateau is located along the crest of a ridge between the Belbulak and Left Talgar Gorges. From this point, light-colored rock formations create picturesque scenery that forms the landscape known as the «Stone Garden.» The new bridge offers even more breathtaking views.
According to the project’s author, the bridge’s cable system is capable of carrying up to 30 tons; however, for safety reasons, up to 10 people are allowed to cross simultaneously.
Visitors say the location impresses not only with its engineering design but also with its spectacular surrounding panoramas. A walk along the bridge among mountain spruces promises vivid emotions and stunning views. Moreover, it is an ideal spot for photography.
The attraction is located within the Oi-Qaragаi Mountain Resort in the Talgar district of the Almaty region.
Another scenic suspension bridge opened in Almaty earlier this October, in the Gorelnik Gorge area. That bridge spans 77 meters and is part of Almaty’s eco-tourism development plan aimed at easing congestion on popular routes to Medeu and Shymbulak.
