Following the Louvre heist, a photo of «suspects» who immediately charmed social media users went viral. Kursiv LifeStyle explains why the people in the photo probably have nothing to do with the crime.

The photos allegedly depicted two suspects in the recent Louvre robbery. On Oct. 28, The Lamented — a satirical Facebook page — posted photos of two «robbers» with model-like looks.

«Two suspects arrested over Louvre jewel heist BREAK the INTERNET as housewives across France encourage robbers to steal theirs next,» the post read.

However, not all users paid attention to the original source and began sharing the shots as genuine photographs taken during the arrest.

Who are the actual people in the photos?

These are indeed real individuals, but they have nothing to do with robbing the Louvre. The man wearing the orange prison uniform is actor Chace Crawford, famous for his role as Nate Archibald in the series “Gossip Girl.” In 2010, he was arrested on marijuana possession charges shortly before the release of a movie in which he played a drug dealer.

The photo of the person on the left has been circulating online for more than 10 years. According to Arrests.org, the person in the photo is allegedly Stefan Alexander Dolbashian from Florida, who was reportedly wanted for grand theft and breaking and entering.

The robbery took place in the early morning of Oct. 19. According to French media, the criminals needed only several minutes to steal eight historic jewelry pieces. Surveillance cameras recorded three masked men entering the Apollo Gallery and escaping before security arrived.
