Goals: Giovane 40’; Piotr Zieliński 16’, Martin Frese 90+3’ (own goal)
Inter is fighting for the title, while Verona is in the relegation zone. The favorites quickly took the lead as Polish midfielder Piotr Zieliński scored a spectacular volley from a corner kick. Shortly before halftime, the hosts tied the game thanks to Brazilian forward Giovane.
The Milanese club had control of the ball — 73% possession by the end of the match — and dominated in shots, 21 to eight, including six on target compared to Verona’s two. However, they failed to capitalize. The hosts conceded the winning goal in added time, when Danish defender Martin Frese turned the ball into his own net.
After 10 matchdays, Inter has collected 21 points and shares second place in the table with Milan and Roma, while Napoli leads with 22.
For now, Inter switches from the national championship to the Champions League. On Nov. 5, the Milanese club will host a match against Kairat Almaty. After three matchdays of the league phase, Inter sits among the top five teams with three wins, while Kairat has one point and ranks 34th among 36 participants.
Almaty’s club played its latest official match on Oct. 26 — the final round of the Kazakhstan Premier League — tying with FC Astana at home (1-1) and earning the title for the second consecutive and fifth overall time.
