Since the release of «Home Alone,» 35 years have passed, and the movie’s star, Macaulay Culkin, continues to bring fans the same Christmas spirit — though this time with a different meaning.
The actor once again reprised the role of Kevin McCallister in the «Home But Not Alone» advertising campaign by Home Instead, a company providing in-home senior care.
Kevin no longer needs to protect his home from burglars — now he’s taking care of his mother. In the video, Culkin’s character wraps the yard in bubble wrap and draws up a plan called Mom’s Safety Plan, featuring notes like «turbo stair lift» and «super secure carpet.»
«I just worry about Mom being by herself, you know. What if she falls down or gets snowed in?» the actor says in the ad.
However, he gets distracted by a familiar shovel noise, which turns out to be coming from Old Man Marley’s granddaughter, who advises Kevin not to panic but to talk with his mom about «getting a little help.»
The ad turned out to be not only nostalgic but also deeply human. In other clips, Culkin recreates iconic moments from the movie, such as when his shopping bags filled with groceries split open.
Notably, «Home But Not Alone» will be broadcast in the US alongside holiday programs and «Home Alone» until Jan. 11.
