Kazakhstani flag carrier Air Astana has announced its largest order ever. Boeing will deliver 15 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, bringing the total order up to 18 planes worth $7 billion.
«The order is in addition to the three Boeing 787-9 aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2026–27, which now brings total commitments to 18 aircraft. The newly ordered aircraft will be delivered between 2032 and 2035. The total value of the 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, including engines, is US$7 billion based on manufacturer list prices,» the release read.
Notably, in September, Uzbekistan Airways signed an agreement to purchase up to 22 Boeing 787 Dreamliners worth more than $8 billion — $1 billion more than Air Astana’s order.
Air Astana CEO Peter Foster said that the delivery of the first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, scheduled for next year, will mark the beginning of the company’s new development phase.
«With its customer-friendly cabin, fuel efficiency and range flexibility, the fleet of up to 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft is destined to become an outstanding success for the airline and its discerning passengers,» Foster noted.
Separately, Foster will step down from his role in 2026.
