In 2023, several valuable items — including a personalized Rolex associated with the John Wick films — were stolen from Hollywood star Keanu Reeves. Now, he has them back. The watch and other valuables unexpectedly surfaced in Chile and were handed over to the FBI, which returned them to the actor.
The FBI confirmed that Reeves had received the stolen items and even published part of his handwritten thank-you letter. Keanu, true to his reputation, was extremely polite:
«Thank you so much for all your effort, dedication, professionalism and cross-border cooperation. My warmest regards, Keanu,» he wrote to the agency’s officials.
Chilean authorities returned six pairs of expensive watches. Among them was a Rolex Submariner stolen from Reeves’ home in December 2023. Although its market price is about $9,500, given its owner’s persona and the story behind it, the watch’s value is estimated at around $125,000.
The trail of the criminals involved in the theft was discovered a year later, in December 2024, on another continent — in Santiago, Chile. Local police arrested a man linked to what the FBI describes as «South American Theft Groups,» criminal networks from South American countries whose members travel to the U.S. and other nations to commit theft.
Earlier this year, Reeves did something fans had long speculated about: the 61-year-old star secretly married Alexandra Grant, his longtime girlfriend and muse. The wedding took place during their summer trip to Europe and was private, with no media attention.
