Google releases Nano Banana Pro, an AI generator of incredibly realistic photos

Google DeepMind’s newly announced Gemini 3 Pro Image model, also known as Nano Banana Pro, has generated buzz for its «absolutely insane» ability to create images with unprecedented realism and quality. But the tool raises not only industry standards, but also serious concerns over privacy and regulation, according to VentureBeat.

The model features improved image recognition, deeper spatial reasoning and the ability to search the internet for information to use in image generation. It can perform multi-step photo editing, place text accurately — from signs to infographics — and create images at resolutions up to 4K.

Its ability to generate lifelike images of celebrities has drawn particular attention, with users producing posters, humorous edits and other content featuring well-known public figures.

Access to the model is restricted behind a paywall, frustrating many who hoped to test it for free.

Still, those who have tried Nano Banana Pro are enthusiastic:

«This isn’t just an update. This version can actually create cool things. It generates and edits images up to 4K. Text in images is virtually error-free.»

«Yes, this is a new level. What NB Pro can do, no neural network has ever been able to do before.»

«It turned out really cool — the detail is incredible.»

But alongside the excitement, concerns are growing:

«Yeah, it’s cool. But there’s nothing good about it in reality. I’m not talking about harmless photos for fun — but what this will lead to. People won’t be able to tell the truth from AI. I won’t even mention scammers.»

«I’m shocked. I think we’re in deep trouble. It will be very difficult to distinguish truth from lies. Soon we’ll be living in one big fake.»

«And this is only the beginning. I can’t imagine what will exist in ten years.»

In Kazakhstan, Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva echoed these concerns, calling for new regulations on photo and video recording. For example, she suggested that taking photos and videos in public places without permission might be prohibited. She said a working group is already being formed to discuss amendments to the law «On Mass Media.» However, many Kazakhstanis worry the new rules could prevent them from recording evidence of wrongdoing by officials or members of the public.
