American FX TV channel has ordered a series based on Ubisoft’s iconic video game franchise «Far Cry.» Each season, akin to the original games, will be a separate installment with different characters and locations.

Trusted and iconic, FX producers are behind the project — Rob Mac, the creator of «It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia» and executive producer of «Welcome to Wrexham,» the sports documentary recognized with multiple Emmy Awards, as well as Noah Hawley, the creator of «Fargo» and «Alien: Earth.» Mac is also expected to appear as an actor in the show.

«What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a theme. To create a big action show that can change from year to year, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this complex and chaotic lens, is a dream come true,» Hawley said.

Official dates for the premiere and the start of filming have not been announced.

Previously, Nintendo revealed the first still images of the upcoming «The Legend of Zelda» movie.
