A new live-action Assassin’s Creed adaptation is moving forward at Netflix, but news of the project — and its newly announced casting — has already sparked debate among fans, Gamingbible.com reported.
Netflix recently confirmed that actor Toby Wallace will serve as a co-lead in the series. Many gamers initially speculated that he had been tapped to portray Ezio Auditore, one of the franchise’s most iconic characters.
However, early details suggest the show will follow an original storyline and avoid retelling established canon from the games, indicating that Wallace will play a new assassin created specifically for the series.

The announcement has generated both excitement and skepticism. Some veteran fans of the franchise remain cautious, noting that the previous attempt at a live-action Assassin’s Creed adaptation was widely panned.
Notably, one fan argued that the franchise is poorly suited for live action. He said its signature elements — stylized environments, parkour-heavy action, historical backdrops, and the Animus concept — translate more naturally to animation than to a traditional TV production.
