Ivan Toney, forward for Al-Ahli and England’s national team, was arrested after an alleged assault on a visitor at London bar, The Sun reported.
The incident took place last weekend. According to the outlet, the conflict broke out when a fan grabbed Toney around the neck in an attempt to take a selfie. The player told the man to let go, and reportedly Toney struck the person with his head.
«He walked past a table of a group of lads. One of them recognized him and said, ‘Oh, it’s Ivan Toney’ and tried to put his hands around his neck to get a photo with him. And then Toney has said, ‘Get off me, get off me’ and ended up headbutting one of the guys,» one of the witnesses told The Sun.
The alleged victim ended up with «blood leaking from the bridge of his nose» and reportedly suffered a broken nose and ring finger.
Later, police arrived at the bar. Several officers approached Toney, asked for his name, arrested him and escorted the athlete from the venue.
«A 29-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray. He has since been released on bail while inquiries continue,» The Sun cited the Metropolitan Police.
Toney’s career
Ivan Toney has been playing for Saudi Al-Ahli since August 2024, when he left English side Brentford. He won the AFC Champions League Elite in 2025 and became the top scorer of the 2020-21 EFL Championship with 31 goals. Toney played 18 matches this season, scoring 12 goals and delivering two assists.
Toney made his debut for the national team in March 2023. He is a 2024 UEFA European Championship runner-up. He has played in seven matches, recording two goal contributions — one goal and one assist.
In 2023, the athlete was disqualified for eight months for violating the FA’s betting rules. He placed 126 bets on games from his own competitions, with 29 tied to his team. He also bet against his team 13 times, in which he did not appear.
