
A woman in Japan has sued a man she met via a dating app, demanding around $50,000, claiming he misled her by presenting himself as single, while in reality he was a married father, NHK World reported.
A Tokyo District Court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, ordering the defendant to pay 1.5 million yen (roughly $10,000) in damages. The court emphasized that the man knew the woman intended the relationship to develop into marriage, thus violating her chastity rights by repeatedly engaging in sexual relations with her while deliberately concealing his marital status.
According to the judge, the defendant might have exposed the plaintiff to a sexually transmitted disease, and she suffered emotional distress upon discovering he was married.
In February, a woman in Kostanay, Kazakhstan, won a legal case against a tarot fortune-teller, who had predicted the plaintiff’s relationship troubles, claiming her husband had been unfaithful.
Separately, a court in Turkey found a man guilty in divorce proceedings for the likes he had given to other women on social media.
