Legendary director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead on Sunday at their home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, according to the Associated Press.

On Dec. 14, Los Angeles Fire Department personnel discovered the bodies of a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman inside the residence after responding to a medical aid call. Investigators believe both victims suffered stab wounds and the deaths are being treated as an apparent homicide.

Although law enforcement officials declined to release further details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths publicly, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the investigation.

Reiner, 78, was one of Hollywood’s most respected filmmakers and actors, known for directing classic films such as «This Is Spinal Tap,» «When Harry Met Sally,» «The Princess Bride» and «A Few Good Men
