Six Unitree androids unexpectedly took the stage alongside Wang Leehom — an American singer of Taiwanese descent — during his concert in Chengdu, China. They effectively stole the show, captivating the audience with their impressive dance performance.

The robots moved in perfect sync not only with each other but also with the live dancers. At one point, they even performed a complex acrobatic move. For many in the audience, the scene felt like something straight out of a sci-fi movie — except it was happening in real life.

A video of the performance quickly went viral on social media. While some commentators marveled at how far technology has advanced, others raised concerns that human dancers may soon have to compete with robots for public attention.

Elon Musk also noticed the video. The entrepreneur reposted it, captioning it simply, «Impressive.» The internet was quick to respond with jokes, speculating whether Musk might be feeling jealous of Unitree’s success, given that his own robot, Optimus, is not yet capable of similar feats.

As it later emerged, the spectacular performance was the result of extensive preparation. The robots rehearsed for more than three months and Unitree Robotics used the latest version of its androids for the show, featuring faster reaction times and improved coordination.

Earlier this year, an American startup also unveiled a «houserobot» capable of handling most household chores. According to its creators, the android can perform a wide range of tasks, including clearing dishes from the table, loading and unloading washing machines and dishwashers, folding clothes, taking out the trash and even making coffee.
