Prince William and his 12-year-old son, Prince George, volunteered at The Passage in London to help staff and volunteers prepare for the charity’s annual Christmas lunch. William’s visit with George echoed his own childhood experience, when Princess Diana brought him to the same organization at a similar age, according to CNN.
During the visit, the father and son spoke with people who have experienced homelessness and learned about the charity’s support, according to a Kensington Palace source. Prince George also signed The Passage’s visitors’ book, adding his name to the same page previously signed by his father and his late grandmother, Princess Diana.

William has been a patron of The Passage since 2019, having first visited the organization in 1993 with his mother. In December 2020, he returned to volunteer, helping prepare donation packs for people experiencing homelessness who were staying in emergency hotel accommodations. In 2022 and 2023, he was also seen selling copies of The Big Issue, a magazine sold by people facing homelessness or unemployment to earn income.
In June 2023, following two years of development, William launched the Homewards program, a long-term initiative aimed at ending homelessness across the U.K. The five-year project focuses on six pilot locations, each receiving initial funding from the Royal Foundation, and works in partnership with private sector organizations and local grassroots charities.
