Reports of the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stirred not only the world’s media but also the shelves of a popular brand. Kursiv LifeStyle explains how the tracksuit became the first fashion trend of 2026.

According to media reports, mentions of the «Nike Tech Fleece» garnered tens of millions of views on social media, with the highest interest in the U.S., Brazil, Germany and the U.K.

The surge in Google searches led Nike stores to run out of stock. Several sizes sold out within hours. The hype was sparked by a post from U.S. President Donald Trump featuring a photo of Maduro, in which the Venezuelan leader is seen sitting in a gray tracksuit and wearing a black blindfold.

Following the publication, social media users began analyzing Maduro’s outfit. According to various estimates, his look costs around $516.

In the early hours of Jan. 3, a U.S. airstrike hit targets in Caracas and several other states in Venezuela, which was confirmed by Trump. During the brief military operation, Maduro and his wife were captured.

Separately, last October, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s handbag became a hit among women in Japan, leading to a surge of orders that flooded the company’s factory in Nagano.
