The board of directors of Kazakhstan’s flagship carrier Air Astana is set to review the acquisition of Airbus A320neo family aircraft, according to a notice available on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) website.
The final amount of the deal has not been announced; however, it is noted that it would be 50% or more of the total balance sheet value of the company’s assets.
According to Air Astana statements, after the first three quarters of 2025, the carrier has roughly $2.2 billion in assets. Expressed differently, the amount in question is at least around $1.1 billion.
In late November 2025, Air Astana signed a memorandum of understanding for 50 Airbus A320neo aircraft, with the first deliveries scheduled for 2031. The exact number of aircraft the carrier can purchase for this amount is not yet known.
On Nov. 7, 2025, the company announced a major Boeing order for up to 15 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
