Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio have agreed on a plan to implement the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) during talks in Washington on Jan. 13, Interfax reported, citing Armenia’s Foreign Ministry.
Officials from both countries welcomed the rapid development of Armenia-U.S. relations and reviewed progress on existing agreements and joint projects. They also discussed the outcomes of the Washington Peace Summit held on Aug. 8, 2025, and emphasized the need for further steps to secure lasting peace.
Under the TRIPP project, a 42-kilometer transport corridor will be built in southern Armenia to connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The project includes the construction of roads, railways, and oil and gas infrastructure.
TRIPP represents the practical implementation of agreements reached by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. President Donald Trump and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Washington last August. Once it is fully implemented, Armenia’s role as a regional transit and economic hub is expected to increase, attracting new investment, institutionalizing peace with Azerbaijan and normalizing relations with Turkey.
The U.S. Department of State also hopes that TRIPP will «strengthen the prosperity and security of Armenia and Azerbaijan and further American commerce by expanding regional trade and connectivity, as well as create new transit opportunities linking Central Asia and the Caspian to Europe.»
