Honda has unexpectedly entered the recreational vehicle space — but in its own way. The Base Station is neither a massive camper van nor a motorhome. It’s a high-tech towable trailer that can even be hitched to a CR-V for a weekend getaway in the countryside.

The idea is simple: camping without hassle, unnecessary fuss or a large pickup truck for towing. The Honda Base Station is lightweight and designed to suit popular crossovers and electric vehicles.

The trailer is compact and neat on the outside, with an ergonomically arranged interior — a feature Honda is known for. The lifting roof allows you to stand at full height, five windows make the interior bright and the tailgate turns the trailer into a part of the campsite.

The berth can accommodate four people, with a foldable couch and an optional kids’ bunk bed.

Furthermore, Base Station has a modular design, allowing the installation of an air conditioner, outdoor shower and an external kitchen. Batteries, solar panels and an inverter will provide enough electricity even in remote areas.

Another advantage is the lighting. There are adjustable ambient light rings around the windows, creating the feeling of a smart recreational vehicle.

It’s important to note that Base Station is currently a prototype. But knowing Honda, they don’t reveal things without reason. The Base Station feels like a natural extension of their philosophy — from the CR-V to ATVs and generators.

Previously, Kursiv Cars covered a two-story palace on wheels with 115 square meters of living space.
