Iconic mobile game «Subway Surfers» is getting a sequel — «Subway Surfers City,» scheduled for release on Feb. 26 on iOS and Android.
Pre-registration is available now. The developer is studio SYBO. Unlike the original installment, in which characters traveled across different countries, the sequel takes place in a single location as a main hub — fictional Subway City.
Players will have four areas to explore — The Docks, Southline, Sunrise Blvd. and Delorean Park. Developers plan to expand the city and release seasons with new areas, characters, events and customization items.
The sequel also features new mechanics, including boost platforms, a stomp move and a shield. Players will have three modes of play: classic endless runner, city tour with missions and events with challenges.
Like the first installment, «Subway Surfers City» will be free with in-game purchases. The game will also feature an offline mode with limited features.
«Subway Surfers» was released in 2012 and emerged as one of the most popular mobile games ever. According to SYBO, total downloads reached 4.5 billion, with 100-150 million active users per month.
Separately, in July 2025, Kursiv.media reported that Grand Mobile, an online game developed by Kazakhstan-based Grand Games, raised $750,000 in investment.
