Kazakhstanis were moved by the story of a couple from Karaganda who celebrated a second wedding a decade after their original ceremony. The couple married in 2014, but a technical failure left them without professional photos or video. Only cellphone snapshots taken by friends remained.

A joke that became a promise

After the wedding, the bride jokingly told her husband they should repeat the ceremony in 10 years — and then forgot about it.

«I told my husband he should organize a second wedding for our 10th anniversary, but this time with reliable photographers and videographers,» she wrote. «Ten years later, on my birthday, relatives invited us to what they said was a bride’s party. I thought we would go there and then celebrate at a restaurant. I had completely forgotten that I had asked for a second wedding.»

A surprise revealed

According to the author, nothing initially suggested a surprise. But when the taxi took an unexpected turn and a friend’s car pulled into a parking lot, she realized something unusual was happening. Guests were welcomed on a lawn by dombra players and close friends, followed by the arrival of a veil and bouquet.

That moment marked the beginning of the «second wedding,» complete with a betashar — the traditional Kazakh ritual of revealing the bride’s face — renewed vows and the exchange of rings the couple had always dreamed of.

Thoughtful details and a viral moment

The celebration was planned down to the smallest detail. Guests received a custom-made newspaper about the couple, fresh flowers decorated the tables, and candles were adorned with personalized name ribbons. One of the most emotional moments was the first dance, set to the same song that marked the beginning of their married life.

The story quickly went viral on Threads, drawing hundreds of comments. Users called it «a true example of real actions» and admitted the post brought them to tears.
