A greenhouse in the village of Yntymak in the Turkestan region grows Cavendish bananas. Moreover, work is underway to adapt papaya, lemon, orange, mandarin and coffee, according to the regional governor’s office.

In 2019, local entrepreneur Shams Tursynbayev brought Cavendish banana plantlets from Turkey and adapted them to the specific conditions of the Saryagash district. The greenhouse, which produces exotic fruits for Kazakhstan, covers an area of 1,000 square meters.

At the initial stage, the bananas struggled to adapt to the new conditions; however, the entrepreneur managed to acclimate them. As of now, the plants produce abundant harvests.

Along with bananas, work is underway in the greenhouse to adapt other exotic plants, including papaya, lemon, orange, mandarin, coffee, and pitaya. The governor of the Saryagash district Arman Abdullayev has pledged to support the entrepreneur in developing and promoting the fruits for the domestic market.

Previously, in 2024, Kursiv.media correspondents visited and reported on a banana greenhouse near Shymkent. Later, in the spring of 2025, its products generated significant buzz in Kazakhstan and Russia, with residents of Almaty and other major cities willing to try Shymkent-grown bananas.
