The governor of Kazakhstan’s Turkestan region Nuralkhan Kusherov held talks with a Chinese investor to discuss a proposed international-standard water park project in Turkestan, the governor’s office press service reported.
According to the presented plan, the total area of the entertainment complex will exceed 120,000 square meters and will include a water park area with water rides, camping hotels, a reception center and an event hall. The project aims to promote family recreation and tourism.
A key feature of the future water park will be its rides, which can be used in different seasons. A local body of water is planned to be used for swimming in summer and as a kart circuit in winter, allowing the complex to operate year-round. The rides will include tall slides, a «tornado» ride, a castle-themed water attraction, a rainbow slide, and interactive play zones.
The new tourist facility is expected to attract residents of the region and other parts of Kazakhstan, as well as visitors from abroad. The governor’s office emphasized that the project will create new jobs and enhance Turkestan’s tourist appeal. However, neither the construction company nor the required investment volume for construction has been disclosed.
The parties also discussed other projects during the meeting. In the near future, the regional authorities plan to step up efforts to launch new industrial facilities in the Turan special economic zone.
The governor’s office added that efforts to attract investment are ongoing. The fixed capital investment plan for 2025 was approved at roughly $2.8 billion, while actual investment for the year amounted to around $3.5 billion.
Between January and July 2025, the Turkestan region received around $1.4 billion in investment, up 133.8% year-on-year.
