The first official trailer for the biopic «Michael,» about the life of legendary American singer Michael Jackson, has been released.
Release date and cast
The film is scheduled to premiere in the U.S. on April 24. The lead role is played by 29-year-old Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew.
The project was directed by Antoine Fuqua («King Arthur»), with a screenplay by John Logan, who previously worked on «Gladiator» and «Rango.»
What the trailer shows
The Lionsgate trailer highlights different stages of the singer’s life, from his childhood in the Jackson 5 to his global success and the challenges of his later years.
Jaafar Jackson appears in several of the artist’s recognizable looks and recreates his signature dance moves. Fuqua said the actor not only resembles Jackson but also captured the spirit of Michael.
The trailer also includes scenes inspired by the «Thriller» music video, stage performances, studio sessions and the burns Jackson suffered while filming a Pepsi commercial.

Following the trailer’s release, fans took to social media, with many saying the film could be one of 2026’s major releases.
