YouTube has made an auto-dubbing option available for all creators. Now the videos can be dubbed in 27 languages using AI.

The platform has also expanded the dubbing capabilities. For instance, the Expressive Speech tool replicates the creator’s emotions, alongside testing lip-sync to give videos a more natural look.

Creators can also add their own dub or turn the AI-powered option off completely.

To showcase the tool, YouTube uploaded a demonstration video featuring the auto-dub option enabled in the «Audio track» section within the player’s settings.

The video sparked discussions in the comments section — users reacted with little enthusiasm.

They complained that the AI dub fails to convey emotions, intonation and speech tempo correctly. Users noted that the voice sounds artificial and lowers the overall sound quality. Several people claimed that because of this, the video is unpleasant to watch.

Commenters were also upset that auto-dubbing sometimes turns on automatically. Users asked that this option not be enabled by default, as it was earlier.

Previously, YouTube introduced parental controls for Shorts.
