Vacherot beats Bublik, Kazakhstan falls to Monaco in Davis Cup

Kazakhstan’s top-ranked player, Alexander Bublik, exhausted after an almost three-hour doubles match, lost to Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot 6-7 (4-7), 6-7 (7-9). Kazakhstan’s national team was defeated by Monaco 1-3 in a home Davis Cup tie.
The previous doubles match, in which Bublik partnered with Beibit Zhukaev against Hugo Nys and Romain Arneodo, lasted 2 hours 48 minutes, leaving the Kazakh player visibly exhausted at the start of his singles match.
After contesting three tiebreaks in doubles, Bublik also played the fourth and fifth tiebreaks in singles. Vacherot broke in the opening game, but Bublik broke back two games later. Both players then held serve in all remaining games.
After losing the first set, Bublik had no margin for error. To keep Kazakhstan in the tie, he needed to win the next two sets. Despite a strong effort, he was unable to take a set, losing 6-7 (4-7), 6-7 (7-9) in 1 hour 54 minutes.
The final singles match between Alexander Shevchenko and Nys was canceled as it would not have affected the outcome of the tie.
The first day of the tie had ended in a draw, with Bublik defeating Nys 6-0, 6-3, and Vacherot defeating Shevchenko by the same score.
This marks Kazakhstan’s third consecutive Davis Cup tie loss. In February 2024, they were defeated by Argentina away, 2-3, and in September 2025, they lost to South Korea away.
