The Deepal S05 electric SUV confirmed its status as one of the safest cars on the market. According to Euro NCAP, the model from the Chinese car maker Changan’s sub-brand successfully passed a series of stringent tests in late 2025 and received a maximum five-star rating. The vehicle was assessed under new protocols, and Deepal proved to be an advanced and human-friendly car.

One aspect of the test was the assessment of body crashworthiness. In a frontal collision, the Deepal absorbs energy to minimize damage to the other vehicle. Inside the cabin, the safety of adult occupants is ensured by strong pillars (protection rating of 94%) and a central airbag that prevents the driver and passenger from colliding head-on.

Innovations: water and children

The engineers accounted for a rare scenario:  the risk of drowning. Electronics and powered door mechanisms give passengers time to evacuate through the windows. Child protection was rated at 87%, with both 6- and 10-year-old dummies achieving the maximum possible points. The Child Presence Detection system additionally alerts if a child is accidentally left inside the vehicle.

The model’s electronics help protect cyclists and motorcyclists, preventing dangerous door openings and collisions on the road. However, the driver fatigue monitoring system scored no points — the camera is present, but it failed to pass the Euro NCAP test.

The five-star rating applies to all versions of the 1,940-kilogram crossover, demonstrating the high level of safety across Changan’s sub-brand lineup.
