Spanish figure skater Olivia Smart and former U.S. Olympic ice dancer Jean-Luc Baker announced their engagement during the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, Fox News reported.
Baker proposed to Smart on Valentine’s Day and the couple later shared the news on social media. The proposal took place in Milan while Smart was competing at the Games with her ice dance partner, Tim Dieck.
Before they became a couple, Smart and Baker competed against each other on the international stage, representing Spain and the United States. They faced each other at the 2022 Winter Olympics and at several World Championships.
At the Milan Cortina Games, Smart and Dieck finished ninth in the ice dance competition. Baker, who won a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics, attended the Games as a spectator after injuries ended his competitive career in 2023.
