The pilot launch of autonomous cars in Kazakhstan is planned as part of urban mobility development projects, the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development reported.

The driverless vehicle trials will take place in Almaty, Astana and the Akmola region. The introduction of innovations in the logistics sector is expected not only to change conventional traffic patterns but also to create a new segment of the digital economy.

In the long term, authorities expect that the development of unmanned technologies will generate additional revenue for the state budget.

Previously, the start timeline for one of the most technologically advanced transport projects was announced in Almaty. By May 1, 2026, 50 driverless cars are scheduled to hit the city’s streets.
