KazMunayGas plans scheduled maintenance at Romanian refineries

Rompetrol Rafinare, a subsidiary of KMG International, will carry out scheduled maintenance at two refineries in Romania. To ensure all contracted deliveries are met on time, KMG International will rely on its oil reserves, according to a statement from KazMunayGas (KMG), Kazakhstan’s national oil company and the parent company of KMG International.

The planned maintenance will take place at Petromidia Refinery in Năvodari and Vega Refinery in Ploiești. Both facilities will be shut down for approximately 20 days.

The work will include inspection and recertification of production units, equipment cleaning and the replacement of components such as catalysts. The company said these measures are intended to maintain high production levels and ensure consistent product quality.

During the shutdown period, KMG International will supply petroleum products from its reserves and through its trading division.

According to preliminary data, generated $128 million in profit last year. However, in the first nine months of 2025, Rompetrol Rafinare posted losses of $20.6 million. In 2024, KMG International reported a $16 million loss.

KMG International operates 28 companies across Romania, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Turkey and Kazakhstan. It also holds a 49% stake in Rompetrol France.
