Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić held talks in a restricted format. The key topics included the development of the IT sector, direct flights between the two capitals, and the expansion of Serbian businesses in Kazakhstan.

Tokayev emphasized that Serbia is Kazakhstan’s «very important strategic partner in Europe.» He noted that over 60 Serbian companies are currently operating in the country. An important factor in strengthening ties has been the launch of a direct flight between Astana and Belgrade, which is already yielding results in business and tourism.

«We share common approaches to major international issues. I believe we have established a solid and effective foundation for our cooperation,» Tokayev said.

In turn, Vučić proposed expanding the horizons of cooperation. Along with energy, Belgrade is interested in joint projects in artificial intelligence and information technology.

«I believe our friendship will reach a new level through stronger cooperation in artificial intelligence, information technologies and energy,» Vučić said.

Trade turnover between the countries surpassed $107 million in 2025, an almost 8% increase. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan almost doubled its exports to Serbia, primarily shipping mineral fertilizers and industrial products.

At the end of the meeting, Vučić invited Tokayev to Serbia for a return visit in the near future.

Previously, following the Kazakhstan-Serbia Business Forum, a number of agreements and memoranda of cooperation were signed. In particular, SP Kaztechnology and the Serbian company Yugoimport SDPR signed an agreement on the repair and modernization of 122 mm and 152 mm self-propelled artillery systems of the Nora and Soko/Soho families.

Serbia also proposed that Kazakhstani companies invest in the establishment of baby food production.
