A strange fitness trend is gaining traction on Scandinavian TikTok. Athletes are mixing skyr — a thick, high-protein yogurt — with a popular sugar-free energy drink. It may sound questionable at first, but many users swear by the result, calling it «delicious» and «perfect for fitness.»

Skyr has long been popular among athletes because of its high protein content and relatively low calorie count. A 100-gram serving typically contains about 10 to 11 grams of protein, just 0.2 to 0.5 grams of fat, and roughly 3 to 4 grams of carbohydrates.

At around 60 calories per serving, skyr is often used as a base for protein-rich snacks and post-workout meals.

What energy drinks add

Sugar-free energy drinks, by contrast, provide virtually no calories or macronutrients. They contain no protein or fat and typically just 0 to 1 gram of carbohydrates, totaling about 10 to 15 calories per can.

Their primary ingredient is caffeine, usually about 150 to 160 milligrams per serving, which delivers the drink’s stimulating effect.

The result: protein plus caffeine

Combined, the two create a caffeinated protein drink. Athletes say the mixture is both filling and energizing, with a flavor similar to sweet, drinkable yogurt.

In practice, the trend functions as an alternative to a traditional protein shake: high in protein, low in calories and enhanced with an added energy boost.
