A Kazakhstani vehicle registration plate was spotted in the «end of the world» — the world’s southernmost city of Ushuaia, Argentina.

A tourist from Almaty shared on Threads that she arrived in the city and noticed a familiar vehicle registration plate on a wall of a local shop. The plate was issued in Kazakhstan, precisely the Abai region (18th region).

Ushuaia is considered the world’s southernmost city and is a point of departure for expeditions to Antarctica, located around 1,000 kilometers from the continent. The city lies roughly 17,800 kilometers from Kazakhstan, thus the find surprised the woman.

«You know what I saw on a wall of the shop? Please, find the owner and show them this,» the tourist wrote in a post.

Netizens in the comment section indeed embarked on researching the plate’s origin. User nicknamed @oscardjan found out that the plate was issued for a 2023 Hyundai Palisade, registered on May 23 of the same year.

The mystery was solved later when @sekojanooo commented that the plate was of his father.

«Hello, this is my dad. He circumnavigated and left his car’s plate in Ushuaia as a keepsake. He comes from Semey,» the user wrote.
