The globally renowned Cirque du Soleil is set to perform in Kazakhstan for the first time since 2017.

The troupe will perform 14 shows across the country’s two largest cities: from June 4 to 7 in Astana and from June 11 to 15 in Almaty, Freedom Events CEO Victoria Torgunakova announced at the presentation of the new company.

The venues will be Barys Arena in Astana and Almaty Arena in Almaty. Torgunakova noted that the announcement was preceded by extensive preparations and agreements. Engineers from the circus have already inspected the venues, and soon two cargo aircraft carrying 200 tons of equipment will arrive in Kazakhstan.

The Cirque du Soleil tour is organized by Freedom Events — a new platform for the development of the concert industry. The artists will perform in the show «OVO.» The production tells the story of a colony of insects, featuring acrobatic performances. The show premiered in Montreal in 2009 and has since toured more than 40 countries.

Cirque du Soleil is a Canadian contemporary circus company, founded in 1984. It revolutionized the circus format by combining acrobatics, theater, music and visual arts, and has become one of the world’s most recognizable circus brands. The troupe last visited Kazakhstan during EXPO 2017 in Astana.

Ticket sales begin on March 17 at 12 p.m., while Freedom SuperApp users will have early access starting March 14 at 12 p.m.
